To say that it's American money in specific is laughable. The internet hasn't worked well on a matchday for quite some time in Spain due to their draconian laws around blocking piracy.

Who pays for that then? There must be some reason SBS doesn't allow viewers outside Australia. Edit: Seems SBS is partially funded by the Australian govt, ie taxpayers.

That's right. Further the SBS was introduced to allow more ethnic broadcasting of content not in English following the war in around 1970.

I think FIFA has been doing blatant bribery for much longer than just this World Cup.

In terms of where to host stuff sure.

“Hydration breaks” were bad enough when it was too hot. when it’s 20C drizzle or in an air conditioned stadium it’s just for adverts.

Bribery to get players into the host country, or to get players unsuspended, it’s never been so blatant.

That disgusting half time nonsense hasn’t occurred before.
