Intel employs over 9000 people in Israel [1]. There's significant chip development and manufacturing talent there, so it's not really all that surprising if Apple has a team there for those purposes. Intel chip designers in Haifa gave us the Pentium III, which led to the design for the Core and Core 2 CPUs. Looks like Apple's design center is in Jerusalem.

NVIDIA on the north, Apple in Herzelia, AWS in Haifa, Qualcomm in Yoqneam, and Microsoft new chips in TLV. Thank god for Israel
