I've recently hand the 'pleasure' of dealing with legal issues. Google ai was giving me lots of useful sounding advice but you ask for case law, and then Google itself can't find it, and the ai in that search is guessing that you've made a mistake, because the citations just don't exist.

But then you have programming where it appears to be scarily good.

So is this a case of programmers program so their Ais are tested to be good at programming? Or is this cognitive dissonance on our part?

To tie it in to this post. Is it a good thing to have the ai generate the code and data? It assumes an understanding that isn't really there.

I would expect a 1000+ karma account to know better than to shitpost AI slop on hacker news. (if this is not slop, I don't know what to say... the only way your comment relates to the article is the words "Blade Runner")

You're right, I should do better. This was lazy, but it struck a nerve.

It’s notable that just the English “implementation” of FizzBuzz here is longer and more ambiguous than the naive Python implementation, never mind the boilerplate (which itself is also longer than the Python).

The explosion of frameworks and YAML tools the author describes can be attributed to the fact that English is an extremely poor language for program specification, and requires all kinds of guardrails and annotation to accomplish the same specificity as a typical computer program.

That underclass is non human animals. We breed tens of billions of them into existence every year. They have the ability to feel, think, enjoy life, understand and even likely empathize. They don’t want to suffer and they want to live. And they are enslaved, tortured, and then brutally killed all for a few minutes of pleasure, when alternatives exist in abundance.

not sure if that's a direct comparison to bladerunner. I've not watched/read it but just skimming the wikipedia article, replicants seem to have human-level sapience; I think the comparison was rather to oppressed human underclasses.

regardless, what you say is true and that's an interesting comparison.
