Wow, wish I had found out about this earlier! I would've loved to visit Google Chapel Hill, but the event is today and I am headed out of town!

Remember that our focus isn't to make 15 new startups in a city over a weekend, our focus is really education. We believe in "experiential education," or that the best way to learn something is by doing it.

That being said, many real companies have come out of Startup Weekend (and many many more have come out of people meeting or working together at Startup Weekend).

But, a quick list off the top of my head: Zaarly, Foodspotting, Rover, Tioki (formerly DemoLesson), Tapin.tv (YC S12), LaunchRock, Scanadu.

I have been following closely the development of Startup Weekend in Mexico, and wrote research paper on that. Gustavo and Melina are great :)

Zapier (YCS12) was started at a Columbia, MO startup weekend last year. A nonzero number of people have heard of us.

Are know of any google related events in LA? I found a mention of one on Sept 25th but no more info about location or time.
