How much will that do? You could tax their wealth (not even their income) at 100% and you would pay for a year of government shortfalls (in the US). I feel like at some level things really are just expensive to a degree society cannot afford. But maybe I’m missing something basic here?

It's always interesting to see no US commentators on threads like this and I wonder if other countries could take notes. I've been laid off in the US and been able to lean on the social safety net with no issues while seeking new employment, despite the animosity that seems to exist between the system and people who have never used it.

I enjoyed greatly my unemployment, and have decided to live in states where things are generous

Tax revenue not profit maybe. I got this feeling there is so much waste in corporations.
