He did his job. He has little control over the various levers that were available to be pulled to slow the process down to the point that justice was not only delayed, but denied. Trump's still going to go after Smith. I doubt any amount of ring kissing will save him. This will have a side effect of first enraging, and the disillusioning anybody who legitimately thought a Trump prosecution was necessary. After this July, "Unitary Executive Power" is no longer a theory, but an establishment in practice. I'm not sure if it gets more "impetus for further concentration of executive power" than that.
