Randall Munroe's partner was diagnosed with cancer a while (10+ years) and there has been several comics and blogs about it over the years. This ellipsis to him is something perhaps he didn't think he'd be doing with his partner. This I think is a really good comic - https://xkcd.com/931/

#13My partner was diagnosed back in 2016. We went and saw totality in 2017. That day we made hopefully plans to see the one tomorrow. Here we are, 7 years later having driven half way across the country to see tomorrow's eclipse. She is still in treatment and will be forever but she's here. I will definitely make a date for the next one in 20 years. This comic hit close to home. Thank you for posting the link.
If you can travel to Spain, there's another in just 2 years!
