Kirov reporting.

The unit quips were hilarious, especially when they stuck in your head. They pop into your head at opportune times, like listening to politics and thinking "Nationalism will bring us victory!" "China will grow larger" (tank I think?) "I used to be professor" (russian engineer)

Isn’t that C&C Generals?

It's a shame that their inability to muster up generals 2 was the nail in the coffin for the franchise, now they're just trying to squeeze a bit more cash out of it by re releasing stuff. The sooner they let it die the better.

Generals 2 had promise, with frostbite they could have even made it a hybrid game, micro manage units but eg commandos, tanks etc, if you've got a close fight then jump to first person etc. I would have loved that, c&c v battlefield. They'd probably break it though....

One of the biggest games in my childhood, often played in local lan network cafes. I also used to play the DUNE strategy game. I miss the age of RTS games. Nowadays the only game barely worth mentioning is Company of Heroes

I think (from memory) it required IPX/SPX rather than TCP/IP for local network play - I remember that leading me down a rabbit-hole as a kid. TCP LAN play might have came in with the Yuri's Revenge addon.

Highly recommend anyone who likes the game to check out the Mental Omega mod too - They've entirely written their own campaigns as well as balanced and updated multiplayer in some extreme ways.

I would prefer that they invest in creating a brand new "red alert 3" with the same spirit and vibe as the old ones. Instead of hoping to make money in old pots.

What did you not like about the original Red Alert 3?

Sorry what I meant was "Red Alert 4"
