Can’t they just sell the domain and recoup all their costs? That domain is probably worth at least a few million

There is a very active aftermarket for domain sales. So I'm sure they would be able to sell off this asset. Not sure it would be in the millions. But definitely in the 6-figures (US$xxx,xxx) range.

That's one thing about premium domain names, even if the company fails, the domain name is still valuable and more often than note, appreciates in value with time.

The cost of high end domain names continues to increase. An example, both Connect.com and Chat.com sold for $10M+ in the last few years.
