Please do not use North Carolina as a metonym for state house representative Ben Moss, the sole sponsor of the bill in question. This is not something that is on anyones radar as an issue aside from him.

#12High tech in North Carolina peaked with the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk and it's been downhill ever since
Perhaps if they had Penrose highways and used regenerative braking, they could create limitless energy until their packs were too charged. :) It's a shame because RTP exists. Perhaps N Carolinians could develop a people's car ;) EV that is safe and low TCO rather than "Apple brands" keeping EVs out of reach of the masses.
That's what China is doing. The problem is that Americans want giant SUVs that can tow a boat not a small hatchback.

#13This is like Poe's law for, well laws. It reads like a parody, intentionally written to make people who would support it look bad. I have to hope that even in America, where banning municipal fibre and WiFi is a thing, that this is a step too far.
I have some bad news for you...
NC is a very dysfunctional state. Most of the population is educated, progressive and lives in urban areas. Due to gerrymandering, the less populated, rural areas have a disproportionally larger say in state government.
Many will likely support this type of bill (it's not the first time ignorance was drafted as a bill) and there is even a (small) chance of it becoming a law. For another example of how some have protested EVs, search for "rolling coal".

Yes. There is no actual support for this. It’s this one guys effort to get his name in the news for something controversial/polarizing and we’re doing a great job of helping him.
