Everybody would love that. But until Intel does not release the sources for ME this is a no go.

Yeah, except this is bullshit. “sources for ME” have nothing to do with anything, the binaries can be analyzed without source code.

ME_cleaner can effectively kill ME on newer systems too, leaving a small bit of not scary code that runs at startup.

It’s actually possible to audit ME and have an informed conversation about whether or not the bits left after ME_cleaner are scary.

However, if you believe Intel to be malicious you should be worried about what they might have hidden in the parts of their hardware that can’t easily be audited.
