I am working on a system for independent websites that is akin to this. rather than focusing on notebooks, I decided I wanted to make a system for making websites from notes. it's going to be incorporating a few features like distributed hosting, version control, offline and archive modes and distribution. client driven content and work on adding new plugins.

This sounds really interesting. Do share the link when you are done. Thanks

Big fan of Obsidian, I love that it's completely usable on it's own (without a cloud) and you can bring your own syncing technology to it, whether that's syncthing or Dropbox.

This is a huge + for me too. I have my notes saved on Google Drive and can access them across computers. Makes things so simple and easy to use

On the roadmap there are plans to introduce a lightweight mobile app in the near future. Here's hoping this will come soon but the Devs are doing a cracking job

I use Syncthing/Nextcloud to sync the notes to my phone where I use another markdown editor. It works pretty well.

https://gitjournal.io is one I'm using for mobile Markdown notes, synced via GitHub. Open Source.

Not exactly Obsidian Mobile, but should be close enough. The dev is tracking Obsidian compat issues: https://github.com/GitJournal/GitJournal/issues?q=is%3Aissue...
