I think China is a threat even to Hong Kong and Taiwan where Han is the ethnic majority. Ethnicity is not the issue, ideology is.

US support for human rights is a PR bait and switch to win support for wars of aggression. What really means something to rational, self interested people is quality of life for themselves and their family. China under the CCP has seen the greatest improvement in quality of life for its citizens in history. The US system has: eroded quality of life for its citizens over the same time frame, engaged in forever-wars and destabilised international relations. As a European, I am quite happy with a complete realignment towards Russia and China. Non-interference in other countries internal affairs must be established as a guiding principle of international relations. The USA is morally bankrupt and should focus inward on fixing its broken system.

the only actual threat i see is its claims on the south china sea.

the rest of what china is doing is consistent -> "mind your own business".

yes. maybe somebody should clear up whether taiwan is part of china or vice versa. maybe this is like south china sea too. they think because they've been using it like their backyard pool for 4000 yrs its actually theirs.

but it certainly didn't do syria, libya, iraq, afghanistan, crimea.

In the ideology of Communist China the two are interlinked. The Chinese claim to Taiwan seems to me not to be a claim to the land directly, but a claim to the people and hence the land.
