Here's an example of the center 25 years ago, something Bill Clinton said in a state of the union address:

It’s “funny” you use an example of how Democrats went right as a counter example to things shifting to the right. Because it’s just highlighting exactly what was claimed.

It's “funny” that every counter example I could give to the claim that there was a shift to the right in the last 25 years actually just proves that there was as a shift to the right until the last 25 years, which then turns into "exactly what was claimed".

But isn't it that what has happened is the Democrat party has moved so far left that they've abandoned more centrist values, ceding ground to the right?

It’s not even worth pointing out and discussing R historical context. Winning and power are the only motivators. Everything, -everything- else is on the table to those ends.

If the presidency and senate were held by the Democrats they wouldn't wait.
