Virtue signaling is a real phenomena. It doesn't matter how conservatives might sometimes use the term, it is a useful term for anyone - of any political persuasion - who wishes to refer to this behavior. Trying to invalidate words, and the concepts they refer to - by claiming their mere use destroys your credibility - strikes me as a subtle and nefarious form of thought control.

It seems to me that Jordan Peterson [0] is an interesting, thoughtful person who is very transparent about his personal journal to find meaning and understand... well, existence for lack of a better word. On the other hand, he actively attracts and covets the deeply right fringes, and claims no responsibility when they use his stances for extremist viewpoints and attacks.
