This simply shows how bad apple's decision was to switch to their own solution before it was ready.

As many commenters have said, it wasn't necessarily Apple's choice to make the change, and they were bound to their own release schedule.

There's a PR business case in making money by acting in your customer's interests regardless of whether they choose to use your services exclusively or not.

The polarisation that has arisen between supporters of each company isn't something worth feeding.

I don't think Google cares what platform you're accessing their services from. As long as they get your data, they're happy.
