#3As a new father looking to build a card based music player for my kid, I'm surprised how many projects I've found now to make these things:
Yaydio
ESP32io
ESPduino
Phoniebox
more I can't remember right now
Kinda makes it hard to choose one, to be honest.

#6I see Cornell was mentioned. If you're ever in Ithaca, NY, visit Cornell's Lab of Ornithology at Sapsucker Woods. The people at the lab are also responsible for the Merlin app that lets your phone identify birds from their vocalizations.
“Aw, put down something else Rock. I can’t stands a coward.”

#7I known a certain person that would love this. Would it be possible to make something similar using Ntag215 tags and a phone app perhaps?
