Ross Douthat joins revamped 60 minutes

I have only lightly tracked this, since I'm not American, but I understand that there's now a strong right-wing focus in 60 Minutes, is that correct?

Ross Douthat's Wikipedia page makes him sound strongly religiously conservative: anti-abortion, a book title 'a nation of heretics', publications like 'Believe: Why Everyone Should Be Religious' and 'The Decadent Society: How We Became the Victims of Our Own Success'.

Americans who know who he is more than a Wikipedia profile: is this a positive move for neutral, informed journalism, or is it likely aligned with presenting specific agendas?

Future knowledge arrived, straight from the horse's mouth: Ross Douthat wrote his last opinion column for the New York Times on August 8, 2026 [1][2]. Currently the article is called "Who Are the Good Guys and the Bad Guys? I’m No Longer Sure." Previously the title was "Who Is My Enemy? I’m No Longer Sure." (because of A/B testing).

In regards to the article, Nicholas Grossman commented [3]:

While personally I think Douthat sets himself up for disappointment as he wonders, in his words, "where the side of the angels really lies" [1].
