#6People are now starting to turn out for WNBA. Relatability matters, and generational shifts matter.
Perhaps a league for retired stars would do well. The older demographics still spend lots of discretionary money, and it could lead to clothing deals and sponsorships if athletes came out of retirement in a new league of on rotation.
As Marvel films go to show, reboots with old faces tend to draw in crowds.

Japan has the 2nd highest median age in the world. Old people in Japan is neither new nor a phenomenon.

Isn't that the role MLS plays for European soccer players? I'm not complaining, but many players who are no longer in their prime (Zlatan, Beckham, Messi, Son, etc) come over here to end their careers.
When it comes to retired players 50 and above, I question how many of them would want to continue pushing themselves physically, much less how many of them could do so.

Damn straight. 99% of these types of plays is being willing to run in before there’s a set up. Big up to a 59 year old that is still willing to do so.
One can only hope his own knees up that well at that age.

The "PGA Tour Champions" ( formally the Senior Tour ) has golf players over 50 and pretty much does what you suggest.
