Donating AI credits to open source projects

Would love to have a discussion about big companies donating LLM credits to opensource projects that are critical. Would help maintainers build sustainable pipelines for critical code we all use
Re: Donating AI credits to open source projects
#2if its so critical then how about donating money and letting the maintainer decide where to spend it.

Why not both? :)
Hyperscalers generally have access to preferred pricing. Would be great to have access to that for open source projects.

#4As an open source developer, I'd rather have companies donate the subscription x months than tokens. Money would be amazing, but nobody really supports accessibility which is where my interests and time goes.

#5I think this gives me a huge idea: what if we could treat tokens as money — or as something like proof-of-work? In the end, a token is essentially a unit of processing value.

Yeah… the issue might be exchange rate though between those … let’s call them crypto? Tokens and how much Llm might cost.
As a dev in a couple different opensource communities I would love a subsidized AI/Llm subscription to help create test cases and maybe find things I missed.
Might be a minority opinion though lol
