I’m honestly thinking he saw all the attention Elon got and wanted some for himself. For real - ten years ago if you asked anyone if they knew who Peter thiel was, maybe 4/10 would be able to tell you. But even among those 4 if you asked do you know what Peter thiel looks like they might all have shrugged. Now, at least to me, it seems like Thiel has decided to do interviews and public appearances like he never did before. And more and more people now know who he is and how crazy he is as a result. Not sure it’s had the effect he’s looking for.
I am so constantly confused by the level of greed and insanity these kinds of people reach. My theory is that once you are so divorced from the material world and what the value of anything is, your brain turns to mush.

#6Personally, I'm not religious. But 20% of Americans believe that the Bible is the literal word of God. Is it really so crazy for one venture capitalist to believe that the Antichrist is real?
Part of the freedom of religion is accepting that other Americans really do have religious beliefs that differ from your own sometimes, and that's okay. It doesn't mean you need to support the policies that he supports. But we do need to share this country peacefully with people who don't have the same religious beliefs that we do.

When the person adopts religious terminology to attain additional leverage in their particular form of murder capitalism, yes, you should think "this is so crazy."

#8The current iteration of Silicon Valley is just sad to see. I remember the sort of techno-libertarianism from the 90ies, and... while I didn't always agree, it seemed at least kind of idealistic. Also unrealistic, but it didn't seem to come from a place of cruelty or a thirst for power. Quite the contrary, they didn't seem very good at getting the government on their side back then.
Now they have money and power and use both in pretty obscene ways, like starving children in Africa to death by yanking the aid that was keeping them alive away.
It almost feels crazy to write that, like... it can't be real or there must be some nuance, but that is exactly what gutting USAID did.
I want my nerdy hacker people back, working on stuff that makes the world better through the use of technology.

Well the Anti-Christ as a character and literal demon, mirror image of Jesus, etc is a misinterpretation of the anti-Christ attitudes/behaviour the bible is discussing. Which alludes that the end times are when people are no longer pro-Christ. So yes it is so crazy.
