#6What exactly is at risk wrt social security? My parents both receive benefits and are worried by the signs they see in these protests, but there’s nothing specific about benefits actually being stopped or reduced for them that we can find.

Firing people, closing offices and generally making access frustrating effectively destroys the service without destroying the service, which would require many legislators to face the wrath of voters.
Think of these assaults on services as sabotage from within. Money saved is for a trillion in tax cuts for billionaires and to lead to privatization of government, likely by billionaires such as Musk, Ellison, Bezos and friends. Those two goals are paramount.
