There's really not much to it in this "article".

But I do have a thought about it, I think one of the reasons Apple is so interested in local-device AI is simply because they've done the math and to have a cloud-ai for the iPhone would probably be really expensive for them. Unlike Google or Microsoft or even Amazon, Apple doesn't really have the cloud infrastructure to afford to run these mega-expensive AI models to the quality people would be expecting.

So it seems to me like a local solution that might be more tailored made and probably not as good but good enough given the lower resolution at a higher focus... it might be the most reasonable way for Apple to proceed :) I think this is smart of them, in reality, I don't think there's as much rush for them as there is for other companies in tech to incorporate AI into their product lines.
