Tell HN: Toronto Meetup Success

We have been having weekly HN meetups at Victory Cafe, 440 Bloor St W, Toronto, every Monday at 6pm. If you are in the Toronto Area, come down and say hi!

Huge thanks to unintendedcons for organising/maintaining this ongoing series of events, and thanks to all who have attended so far.

I've been attending this for a few month, and it is properly excellent. Very much an opportunity to geek out with other nerds around some food and beverage, that I am looking forward to every Mondays.

I can vouch for the quality of these events and the attendees. It's been a consistently fun, interesting experience and I've made some neat connections.

Quite diverse. Fairly young people mix with 40+ like me.

Quite broad - I'm one of the younger ones, at 25. Most of the other regulars are probably between 5 and 25 years older than I am

Right now participants are roughly half HN readers and half Fediverse users. I wonder if this post will tip the scales?

Update on the group chat situation for anyone who finds this thread later: we are now using XMPP to chat at xmpp:techpizzamondays@chat.404.city?join

This is now the "official" group chat.

I forgot to mention this in my original post, but there is also a Mastodon account, where any important news is posted, at https://social.linux.pizza/@Techpizzamondays
