1200 $ and no ethernet for a desktop. But it has WIFI

Huh? Per their tech docs every thelio has ethernet. For example, take the lower-end Thelio Mira: https://tech-docs.system76.com/models/thelio-mira-r1.0/exter...

Edit: Fixed autocorrect with s/internet/ethernet

Every computer I buy for myself is from System76. Highly recommended!

Same. Laptops are a bit underpowered for the price but I appreciate flexible configuration and not having to tune/troubleshoot Linux myself. Love their new desktop with tabbing too

Who would buy Intel today? These systems look so tasteless. They couldn’t have spent a bit more designing a case?

I have a Thelio (AMD, I agree with you on Intel) and I think the case is great. Mine has the wood trim and looks much nicer than almost every desktop case I’ve seen.

My last intel laptop had a whining from the cpu, apparently triggered by it switching between q states or something. Reddit said it was a common issue with that model. I returned it and tried an amd chip next and this new laptop is super quiet.

My question: is this common, or was it a coincidence?

A lot of people (a majority, even), obviously. Maybe you think they're trash, but reality doesn't seem to agree with you.

well there’s no prize for being second in the market. their product isn’t competitive and that’s simply a fact
