#2Tomorrow is the launch of the Pixel 7 series and another report has popped up on Reddit about a Pixel 6 failing to connect on an emergency call.
There have been multiple reports of this issue this year, long after the issue caused by Microsoft Teams (and other similar apps) was patched in January, but as far as I've been able to find Google has not even acknowledged the issue publicly.
As a long time a Pixel user who is planning to get a 7 and the new Pixel Watch, I really hope someone from Google sees this and the company can at least acknowledge it.

I have been a fan for a long time. My phone history: Galaxy Nexus, Nexus4, Nexus5, Nexus 6P, Pixel1, Pixel2XL, Pixel3.
I now use an iPhone. I disagree with many (perhaps most) decisions apple makes in iOS, but I am 100% sure that if I dial 911, it'll get through. Yes, I miss emulators and many other things, but I feel safer knowing that my phone can make that one call that might save a life.

I have been a fan for a long time. My phone history: Galaxy Nexus, Nexus4, Nexus5, Nexus 6P, Pixel1, Pixel2XL, Pixel3. I now use an iPhone. I disagree with many (perhaps most) decisions apple makes in iOS, but I am 100% sure that if I dial 911, it'll get through. Yes, I miss emulators and many other things, but I feel safer knowing that my phone can make that one call that might save a life.
I rest easier knowing my mom wears an Apple watch, even though she doesn't really know how to use its various features. She does know how to make an emergency call on it, and that's what's important. That, and she rarely misses my calls!
I think it is an oversimplification when folks claim only fanbois buy Apple; there is definitely still a market of the tech unsavvy or folks who just want it to work, not to be customizable or feature-rich or cutting-edge. That said, I do poke fun at my dad and his iPhone whenever we're in bright sunlight and his screen is unusable but mine is fine; that's just sad.

I'm such a big fan of the Pixel experience that I've been letting myself rationalize my plan to stick with it by planning to preorder (tomorrow) the new Pixel Watch.
I tell myself that surely _one_ of my Pixel devices would be able to make an emergency call at any given time...
Recently I tried out both an iPhone and a Galaxy and failed to make the adjustment to either one within their respective return windows.

Same. After being with android for about 10 years I ran out of options. Samsungs are bloatware and blow up. OnePlus used to be good but now they are just another phone. Google's have poor battery and stuttery behavior. It's sad really. But iPhones are the only option remaining.

#8Those new phones fail to connect with my hand because they're so huge. Is the audience sedentary or always in an automobile ? The 5 is my last Pixel most likely.
That's a non sequitur but I might as well contribute to the pile on somehow. But I hope I don't have an opportunity to test the 911 feature on this phone.

For battery, Samsung Note7 explosion was a terrible failure, so it looks like Samsung is now conservative for phone battery. Chinese phone manufacturers advertise extremely fast charging like 80W or even 180W for a phone while Samsung stuck at 45W. I'm fearing those extreme high watts on Chinese phone.

The irony of this comment given the other article on the front of HN [0]. It feels like most of the commentary here is apologetic to the Android ecosystem for all the failures. But Apple has had plenty and will continue to make mistakes, just like every other vendor.
