I was obsessed with these rankings while applying for and going to college. Obsessed. But now that I'm in the real world, I can't help but think they're a load of bull.

What I've found is that everyone basically is an individual person and the quality of the school's education can only get them as far as they specifically want to go. But that being said, certain schools do seem to produce higher numbers of memorably smart people than others. For instance, I have run into a number of very smart people in my short career that went to University of Waterloo. So that's pretty much the only signal I can really get from where you went to school. Otherwise your school, and its "ranking" in these ridiculous contests says approximately nothing to me.
