#4This is fascinating spin on that whole "put yourself in the shoes of someone who has to experience X". Most non-Karens probably do not empathize with normal people named Karen -- how could you? But even surface-level discrimination based on something as arbitrary as a name can lead to real feelings of alienation and dehumanization.

Yep. I have a friend named Karen in my life. The meme has caused her sufficient distress that she has considered changing her name.

#8I don't get this Reddit "Mrs. Karen Boomer" thing. It seems like a bit distasteful cross-generation discontent, aimed at ordinary people of that generation?
And this site is a joke in that regard, what Reddit will look like if you were named Karen, as you would see "u/FuckYouYourname" everywhere and be used as a general scapegoat?

#9What is the point of this? Just because ones first name is involved in some social/cultural "thing" that is negative, doesn't mean it impacts a person (I've been in this situation as a kid). It only affects someone if they are called the "thing" intentionally, which generally does not require a person to share the true name.
Edit: thanks for downvoting my opinion that this website is ineffectual without supplying any evidence that it does work, or is better than a well explained article.

How could you not? It blew my mind how little push back there was against the use of this slur. Even more frustrating was that a lot of people using it were the people who claimed to be fighting against bigotry. Even if you didn't think it was racist or sexist, it was clearly something that would make anyone named Karen feel bad. It doesn't take extreme empathetic ability to understand that.
