Video isn’t always the best medium, but it does allow us to see facial expressions and other cues that we can’t get with audio only.

If no one shows their face it’s not a video call. That’s called a phone call or conference call for everyone under 30. Video isn’t always the best medium, but it does allow us to see facial expressions and other cues that we can’t get with audio only.

Think about talk with a real crew of people, your team maybe, and nobody keeps eyes contact with you. Who's listening?

A company that forced me to be on video calls is a company I would leave immediately
There are better methods than “forcing”.
The only people that seem to care about people turning on their camera are those who's job is to communicate with people all day long. I get it, but at the same time stop trying to change others behavior to make you happy.
It's a lot like those who hate work from home because they no longer have a social life. Don't make ME commute to work and fake 9+ hours of work so YOU can have a social life
