Never knew of this man, but getting into the “flow state” more often has become one of my core objectives in life. Sad to hear of his passing.

"Chick-sent-me-high" was given as a good approximation to pronounce his name in one of his books.

#7Sad to hear. At one point I realized (due to his name) that three non-fiction books I read in a row all referenced his studies, despite spanning entirely different subjects. Clearly an influence on many authors and researchers.

HN readers in Hungary are just waking up to this news, but I can confirm that's a pretty decent approximation.

#10Csikszentmihalyi was Hungarian. I live in Hungary, and often work from a coffee shop called Flow with a Csikszentmihalyi quote on the wall, "Flow is being completely involved in an activity for its own sake. The ego falls away. Time flies. Every action, movement, and thought follows inevitably from the previous one, like playing jazz."
