Ask HN: Is there a real alternative to Android/iOS?

#1
Hello everyone, I am wondering if there is a reliable alternative to Android or iOS. I would like to improve my privacy and share less data with 3rd parties.

I was thinking about buying a KaiOS phone, but it seems that the performance are very low and the platform seems to have lot of limitations.

What do you guys suggest?

Anyone recall this:

Google pays over 310 million on the sexual misconduct claims of Andy Rubin:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/andy-rubin-google-settlement-se...

and MANY other links ---

I recall when I interviewed at Danger, by Andy Rubin, for a head of IT position... I really wanted that job but I was SUPER badly suffering from the flu... and had a fever and had difficulty interviewing but I wanted the job so bad I foolishly went to the interview - which I would have performed much better as healthy...

Anyway - lots of people dopn't know that Rubin was paid A LOT of money to not reveal the OTHER sexual misconduct at google.... it was widely rumored he was paid for his silence...

Look at Uber's bullshit they went through, not simply inclusive of paying for the medical records of a female employee to shame a female employee who was against their mgmt suite....

Or... Youtube founders amazing drug fueled parties.

Or... many of the sex parties in SF especially around ~2010 with porn star talent at some of the parties...

Fun times.

How much data is shared by the phone/OS itself vs applications you install? maybe buy a Pixel, disable as much unwanted features as you can and DON'T install unnecessary apps?

I would like to remove my dependency from Google, then Pixel is not the best solution.
