#3Additionally, if it can run regular Linux apps, why reinvent the wheel? If you want touch compatibility, it would be better to create a translation layer for the frameworks so the on screen keyboard would pop up, etc. such as in Ubuntu Touch.
Another problem is the lack of open development. It just states "Available on Jan 31st, 2021" without any information about where open source enthusiasts could view the code and help in development. I feel this analogy to iPadOS might make it really similar to iPadOS in its closed source development. I reached out to the JingOS developers on discord and they stated that it will be open sourced after it is released. However, it's better to have source codes before it's released, so security researchers can take a look at the code.
Currently, the state of Ubuntu Touch and Sailfish OS on tablets such as the PineTab is in a much more mature state. They also have a fairly large community. For now, I would much rather use Ubuntu Touch or Sailfish OS on my tablets.
Looking to the future, I'm thinking about the upcoming release of GNOME 40. GNOME 40 mockups seem very touch friendly...looking forward to its release.
