I love HackerNews but an online community geared towards conversations pertaining to entrepreneurial ventures for web developers it is not.
Does anyone know of any websites that fit this bill? I am looking for a few to join.

It is, and more than that.

And you're already ready to pass judgement on what HN is or is not.
HN is what you make it, you'll find that if you participate in stories related to the subjects that you indicate and if you post more stories related to those subjects that it is indeed exactly that - and more.
The 'more' is all the other stuff that you are apparently not interested in.
Like any other forum HN is scoped, it is scoped narrowly enough that it is possible to say what does and what does not belong here, and the stuff you indicate ('entrepreneurial ventures for web developers') is about as on-topic as it gets here.
Don't say the cake is not to your taste before you've at least done more than looked at it.

So presumptuous. Does anyone else have any links to web dev / entrepreneur type communities?
Search Lean startups,Startups.com is pretty friendly but it's a Q&A site. Also local meetup groups, meetup.com.
Visit popular VC or Angel blogs, founders love to hang around and share ideas and experiences. AVC.com is my favorite. HN is a pretty large community so seeing the same commenter twice can take weeks.
Also learning how to ask a question is directly related to the quality of the answer.

#7If you are a web developer, then the communities geared for the tools you use are probably a good place to look. For example, if you are primarily a Wordpress developer then there's lots of Wordpress communities. I'm sure the same goes for whatever your industry your business fits into.
The biggest names in my circle of work tend to post very little at these communities, probably because they are crazy busy. I find the most active participants are either new or hobbyists.
Edit: Perhaps another way to reach out to other big names in your industry is to create "stuff" which can capture their attention. That might be writing code which they might try out or posting info to a weblog which they might read. That's a great way to get your name out there. Conferences are probably another good way.
So, I think you need to dig deeper than web communities.
