there are cards called Eye-fi that have done wireless for a few years now but they only sync across photos from a dslr/camera to your computer or mobile phone

Good question. I look at it this way, low cost & programmable. It's not open but for the cost and utility this outweighs doubt. I also look at small hardware, stuff that's cheap and hackable. So for the price of a card + usb power source you could have a portable web server. Think about that.

#10Memory gets cheaper and cheaper but this Toshiba SDHC caught my eye because it has in-built wifi and AUD twenty dollar price-point for 16Gb... with some interesting options (iOS, Android, Web, Arduino) to hack. Version 3 is class 10 & has a Lua interpreter.
