The purpose of developing this header audit tool was to answer the question:

"How do you explain the difference between an HTML header and an HTTP header to bored students who would rather watch YouTube videos (or worse) or prepare a salad at their desks during mandatory lectures?"

The answer was to get them involved. Since all students have internet access, everyone can examine a page of their choice, followed by a discussion of the results.

The audit tool is part of a more comprehensive, non-commercial framework called ScrapTrap ( https://www.scraptrap.de ), which was designed according to social informatics principles and primarily serves in practice for bot defense and anti-scraping, but is also conceived as a teaching and research tool.

It also serves to illustrate attacks and their defense (some examples can be found at the bottom of the aforementioned page).
