We're hosting our servers in EU on hetzner, do a lot of dev ops, instead of using AWS or Google Cloud, and have way less overhead and a smaller engineering team than the other competitors.

Our cloud deployment servers over 10 million unique active users / day, so I would say it works fairly well, our average latency is ~50ms. If you want to self deploy this at a large scale, I recommend multiple worker nodes and a beefy DB, happy to share our live configuration, but that really depends on your uscase.
