Hi everyone, I'm Ahmed, founder of LocalXpose (ngrok alternative) - a reverse proxy that enables you to expose your localhost to the internet. This is my first SaaS. I created LocalXpose for (developers, DevOps engineers, sys admins or even gamers) to reach their localhost server behind a NAT or firewall with a secure and fast tunnel.

I get it. Reverse proxy but this seems like extra steps.

Kids theses days with their Ngrok and docker instances. What happened to good old networking.

This would be so easy to implement with dyndns, upnp and ipv6 these days. All these reverse proxies usually do nothing more than reinvent stun/turtle routing, in a really proprietary and crappy manner... :-/

Yes buddy, it is an extra steps, it is not just a tunneling solution, it has a reverse proxy capabilities which give the user more flexibility on tunnels customizations, every user has his own story and usecase that goes beyond what a normal ssh tunneling can do for example.

It is not about "easy" or "hard", it is about the value it gives to the devs beyond just reaching their localhost behind a firewall, NAT or CGNAT.

I liked the middleware approach to customize the tunnels, Is there a plan to add a custom middleware ? like writing my own middleware ?

Thanks Cabrian, It is in the roadmap actually but with a low priority, the next big update will be the GUI.

Yes, well done on the landing page.

For myself, the thing that impresses me most about the LocalXpose service, is that it is plug-n-play. I did not have to configure the ISP's router to open any ports, didn't have to turn off or limit the macOS firewall, didn't have to open Mullvad VPN to local traffic or configure it in any other way, didn't have to approve more than 3 connections in Little Snitch. These are the "pain points" that I've encountered in the past with apps of this nature. These simple benefits/capabilities of LocalXpose could be expressed on the landing page, as I'm sure others have experienced similar pain as well.

Another feature is one can install LocalXpose using Homebrew. It is my preferred app/command manager, as I am sure also with other macOS users. The fact that you can install/setup LocalXpose and have a tunnel serving https, file browser, and many other services simultaneously in mere seconds/minutes is a benefit that could be expressed also.

I will be signing up for the "PRO" plan as I've already seen the potential usefulness for my business, study and personal needs.
