Coinwink (https://coinwink.com) is a profitable subscription-based app running on Wordpress.

In total, it has 30k+ registered users, sends hundreds/thousands of daily alerts, tracks 3500+ cryptocurrencies.

Very nice and thanks for sharing this! Out of curiosity where is this hosted? And how many paying subscribers do you have?

Classic AJAX calls, not the REST API.

It's hosted on a dedicated server: a typical Apache, PHP + MySQL environment. Currently, there are around 50 premium users.
