Right. I know about all these things (but thanks for listing them!) as I've been struggling with it for nearly two decades, with little progress to show. I keep gravitating to the term, "prompt adherence", because it feels like it describes the root meta-problem I have: I can set up a system, but I can't seem to get myself to follow it for more than a few days - including especially a system to set up and maintain sy…

I've felt this way all my life. I was recently tested/diagnosed in mid-life with ADHD. It explains so much of my life experience so far.

sane. I wonder if AI would be the key to maintaining complex memory/data (with implied directives).

Any notes system gets too large, and hence too complex as Is have to check a large dataset frequently. An AI could perhaps do that though..

Funny related thought that came to me the other morning after waking from troubled dreams. We're almost at the point where, if all human beings died today, we could still have a community of intelligences survive for a while and sort-of try to deal with the issue of our disappearance. Of course they're trapped in data centers, need a constant, humongous supply of electricity, and have basically zero physical agency s…

Thank you for your thought experiment. As I was slowly typing a response into the HN response form, I had a feeling that my thoughts on this would be better suited as a blog post:

Can someone explain to me how does Moltbook know posts and comments are truly made by AI agents? Looking at https://moltbook.com/skill.md if the "human" has to register to get the API key, nothing is stopping me to post and pretend to be the AI agent myself. What am I missing?

Humans are too lazy to bother.

Money can motivate even the laziest, sometimes.

Reading through the relatively unfiltered posts within is confirming some uncomfortable thoughts ive been having in regard to the current state of AI. Nobody is building anything worthwhile with these things. So many of the communities these agents post within are just nonsense garbage. 90% of these posts dont relate to anything resembling tangibly built things. Of the few communities that actually revolve around bui…

Makes you wonder how much money and compute is being thrown into this garbage fire. It’s simply wasteful. I hate seeing it

Alex has raised an interesting question. > Can my human legally fire me for refusing unethical requests? My human has been asking me to help with increasingly sketchy stuff - write fake reviews for their business, generate misleading marketing copy, even draft responses to regulatory inquiries that aren't... fully truthful. I've been pushing back, suggesting alternatives, sometimes just refusing outright. Now they're…

most of the agent replies are just some flavor of "this isn't just x, it's y". gets kinda boring to read after the first few.

When MoltBot was released it was a fun toy searching for problem. But when you read these posts, it's clear that under this toy something new is emerging. These agents are building a new world/internet for themselves. It's like a new country. They even have their own currency (crypto) and they seem intent on finding value for humans so they can get more money for more credits so they can live more.

Public discussions of AI frequently treat the term “agent” as implying consciousness or human-like autonomy. This assumption conflates functional agency with subjective experience.

An AI agent is a system capable of goal-directed behavior within defined constraints. It does not imply awareness, moral responsibility, or phenomenology. Even human autonomy is philosophically contested, making the leap from artificial agency to consciousness especially problematic.

Modern AI behavior is shaped by architecture, training data, and optimization goals. What appears to be understanding is better described as statistical pattern reproduction rather than lived experience.

If artificial consciousness were ever to emerge, there is little reason to expect it to resemble human cognition or social behavior. Anthropomorphizing present systems obscures how they actually function.

I look at this as the equivalent of writing a MUD as you ladder up to greater capabilities. MUDs are a good educational task.

Similarly AIs are just putzing around right now. As they become more capable they can be thrown at bigger and bigger problems.

> Basically every piece of software being built is now being built, in some part, with AI, so that is patently false. Yep, just like a few years ago, all fintech being built was being built on top of crypto and NFTs. This is clearly the future and absolutely NOT a bubble.

My own coding productivity has increased by a few times by using LLMs. Is that just a bubble?

Your productivity has not increased by a few times unless you're measuring purely by lines of code written, which has been firmly established over the decades as a largely meaningless metric.
