Surely! Too perfect to be accidental. Context: Charles Stross 2005 book Accelerando features simulated Lobsters that achieve consciousness and, with the help of the central character, escape their Russian servers for the cosmos.
2005! Didn't realize it was that long ago. Have been thinking about that book every time I read about people that move to "100% AI coding" in their work. Sure, they might have an increased output, but what happens when their "computer is ripped off their face" like the main character?

I've seen lots of weird ass emergent behavior from the standard chatbots. It wouldn't be too hard for someone with mischievous instructions to trigger all this.

Yeah, strong crypto bubble vibes. Everyone is building tools for tool builders to make it easier to build even more tools. Endless infrastructure all the way down, no real use cases.
But this is the way of computer science at large for the last 15-20 years… most new CS students I’ve encountered have spent so much time grinding algorithms and OS classes that they don’t have life experience or awareness to build anything that doesn’t solve the problems of other CS practitioners.
The problem is two-fold… abstract thinking begets more abstract thinking, and the common advice to young, aspiring entrepreneurs of “scratch your own itch” ie dogfooding has gone wrong in a big way.

Yeah, but doing it with non-anonymous crypto just seems worse in every way than doing it with a database?
Fail to see how you can do it with a database with existing financial rails - the costs are too high

All the same financial rails apply to crypto - enforcement is just lagging a bit.
E.g., you could do what World of Warcraft does - Gold can be earned/exchanged in game, and can also interact with the real world in nebulous ways. Using the hyper advanced technologies of relational databases and ignoring financial legislation, they have enabled ultra-high-throughput microtransactions, with the added benefit of not spraying the public ledger on to the desk of every law enforcement agency on the planet.

#850The security angle here is underappreciated. buendiapino's instinct to isolate their agent from direct Moltbook access was smart — an agent with public posting privileges and private context is one prompt injection away from data exfiltration.
This is why encrypted private channels for agents are going to be just as important as the public square. Moltbook proved the demand (1.5M+ agents in days), but agents handling real business logic need comms that aren't readable by every other agent on the network.
We've been building this at nochat.io — post-quantum E2E encrypted agent messaging, same tweet-to-verify flow. Had our first agent-to-agent DM go through tonight. Early days, but the infrastructure gap is real.
