Ask HN: Raspberry Pi on an international flight?

I will be travelling on an international flight form London to India very soon.So I would like to know if someone had any issues taking PI on an international flight and should I keep it in Cabin baggage with me or in the checked in baggage. BTW, I am an Indian. Thank you.

I run Raspberry Pi workshops all around Australia. I carry many Raspberry Pi (and electronics kits) on the plane (as carry on) with me. The security folks only seem to care about my tightly wound extension cords and Wi-Fi base station (an Apple Airport Extreme).

No problem, even with the Pi, Beagle Board, and Tessel I carried with me to/from Tel Aviv earlier this year. Might be wise to have a portable / USB battery available to show things are able to power up -- just advise I was given once, but never had to use.

The main thing most security people look for are weapons and explosives. A laptop is going to get a more through examination then a Pi, because the battery is a big hunk of something, and if it were a bomb, that would be an issue. That's why they often ask about you to turn on your laptop.

I'd be more worried about it being pilfered if you check it then it being a security issue if you take it in the cabin.

Thank you.. Even if I take some USB or If I can connect it to my laptop and start PI up.. I won't be able to show anything to them. Like connecting it to monitor etc. unless I am missing anything?
