Ask HN: Who Uses a todo.txt?

I've gone full circle at least two or three times in my life when it comes to todo apps.

Where I end up every time I tried all apps and processes is a todo.txt file, based on the http://todotxt.org file format.

Now AI agents happily contribute to it as well :-).

Is anyone else in that boat?

I use a text file. But I use my own format.

I'm in my 70s and retired. My todo (TickTick) is vital. Every day is full of surprises: "Hey, today I need to do my daily stuff!". Or (earlier today) "Who knew it was Friday!".

I use an excel sheet (actually a Google sheet) so I can have a few columns and sort by date or filter.
