Ask HN: What makes a good co-founder?

My school has a program where students studying software, product management, and design team up and create a real tech startup over two semesters. I'm studying software engineering. What should I look for as I try to find form a good team?

Communication and conflict resolution. You can improve on just about everything else along they way, but if you cannot talk and resolve differences between yourselves, you are sunk before you even begin.
