Ask HN: H1B visa salaries vs. US citizen salaries?

I recently got an offer for a software engineer position, but it's significantly lower than what they paid to a foreign employee on an H1B visa, as I found on h1binfo.org. Has anyone successfully used H1B salary data to negotiate a higher offer? What risks or strategies should I consider when doing so?"
