#3Not working at Google myself but tgese are the main levels for engineers at Google:
- Software Engineer II (L3 | 0-1 year of experience)
- Software Engineer III (L4 | 2+ years of experience)
- Senior Software Engineer (L5 | Manager I equivalent)
- Staff Software Engineer (L6 | Manager II equivalent)
- Senior Staff Software Engineer (L7 | Senior Manager)
- Principal Engineer (L8 | Director)
- Distinguished Engineer (L9 | Senior Director)
- Google Fellow (L10 | Vice President)
- Senior Google Fellow (L11 | Senior Vice President)

#9Expectations aren't that dissimilar from other FAANG for comparable levels; though from what I've heard it's arguable harder to get through (promoted) the levels than other places:
- L3: Be able to do pre-assigned tasks yourself well. Minimal hand-holding.
- L4: Be fully self-sufficient, and lead small projects on your own.
- L5: Have team-level and/or some org level technical leadership. Find and lead large impact projects yourself. Potential TL.
- L6: Have consistent org level impact that can affect many teams. Be able to set long term technical vision.
- L7: Who knows
