Ask HN: Can you use YC co-founder matching for a side project?

I am looking for a co-founder for my side project. I love my full-time job, and have no plans to go full-time on the side project.

Can I still use YC's co-founder matching platform in this scenario? Obviously, I would be explicit that this is a side-project and may remain that indefinitely.

Yes, that’s exactly what I am doing. I don’t see an issue as long as you’re up front about your intentions.

The premise of YC is that you will go full time with a co founder. However, the co founder matching doesn't stop you from finding someone to do a side project with first and in fact, that is the better way. It is like dating before marriage. Now, will you find someone on YC co-founder matching who is only interested in a side project ? You have to try and find out. Also, may be if your side projects becomes a hit, you may do it full time. Never say never.
