So, I was curious to know, whether Twitter never had Competitive protection agreement from their employees where they can not launch or join any company which are direct or indirect competitor to their product.

You can be fired from the company for breaching any employment agreement or any policy. But That doesn't mean - noncompete agreement cannot be forced. Else, all employees will find a way to get fired from the company and avoid noncompete agreement.
