Am I unhireable?

The reasons I ask: 17 years ago I was arrested for having intercourse with a minor, I technically wasn't convicted of a felony. I have no financial credit. I have no college degree. I have schizophrenia.

Long story short, I dedicated the past 15 years working for my family's business. I was responsible for new customer acquisition, marketing, lead gen, and business development. I've been programming since I was young, I'm efficient with Python.

I've started several companies that weren't profitable or scalable.

What would be my best path forward to securing consistent income and employment?

given the nature of the offence, there will be some occupations which will which forever be unavailable to you. However, there are plenty of opportunities for ex-offenders - lot of employers which do not check or have consciously decided not to check in order to support people back into the world of work. Google 'ban the box' and you should see organisations who made a commitment to help the formerly institutionalised. Good luck

Dont share the nature of your offense unless specifically asked. Just say you were arrested for a serious crime.

Beyond that, same as anyone else. Make a resume site and apply to as many jobs as possible. Obviously if you can get your own microbusiness started you dont need to tell anybody anything about your past.

You got lucky and got a second chance at life, dont fuck it up
