Ask HN: Looking for a back end service to manage work computers

#1
Hello, I recently joined a new startup and I am new to the IT field. I am tasked to look for a service which has backend access to all the laptops given to our employees. If someone installs anything even remotely suspicious I should know about it. All the laptops are running Ubuntu. I am okay if it's a paid service. Any suggestions?

If anyone tried doing that on my work machine, I'd be out of the door. Are you sure you want to be the guy that does that?

Okay, I don't want to be that guy. Is there something a little less obscure? Just enough to add group policies, security patches, disabling installation and such, to all work laptops over the air?

How do you disable installations on linux with git + gcc?
