Meditation

Meditation always strikes me as sex in high school: everyone talks about it but nobody really knows how to do it.. and everyone thinks everyone else is doing it and so everyone claims they are doing it too.

Jokes aside, what form/flavour of meditation do you do and how did you get started?

Installed bidet improved bathroom experience greatly

I'll ditto this. Around Christmas I finally figured out that I had hemorrhoids. One of the adjustments immediately made was to order 2 bidets from hellotushy.com and install them in both bathrooms. Unbelievable relief. First time I used it I must have sat there for 5 minutes. The hemorrhoid problem is now mostly gone, and TP usage in the household is down dramatically. Well-worth the $120/toilet, even if I do have to run the sink hot water for a bit to warm up the lines first.

Intermittent fasting.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. How often do you do that and how did it benefit you?

If I'm in adjustment phase, I'll use start with 36 or 48 or 72 hr fast... depending on comfort level. Any fast is ok... 12 hours is fine.... longer is better. After the long fast transition to basically eating once every 24 hrs, so, once a day. Meals are thin on carbs but with periodic fasting can basically eat whatever you want. then on particular days throw in another 24 hr fast about once a week. I do NOT do calorie counting, tape measure... etc... just stick diligently to a certain eating routine. That small tweak will boost your energy level, regulate your blood sugar, and the ancillary effect of basically losing weight. Btw... during fasts... continue to drink plenty of water, as long as you stay hydrated and your blood sugar is under control your body slowly starts to adjust to this and then you're on auto pilot.

The benefits are many. Increased energy, less mental fog, weight loss... especially the energy... feel about 10 years younger. Physical flexibility also increases markably... also just _feel_ better overall. Can't recommend it highly enough and it really is very, very simple.

If you have doubts about this, consult with a nutritionist first. NOT a physician, a licensed nutritionist. I found medical doctors next to illiterate on eating and the effects of eating / periodic fasting etc and the effects on physiology.

Cheers!

Once a qtr I do 5+ days of water + electrolytes only.

Made a measurable difference.

Also maintain that with no food Mondays. Last meal Sun at 7p than fest on Tue lunch. Every week.

The difference comes in many folds.with one being less obvious; self discipline.

I admit now with a child. That 5 day qtrly fast has become impossible but can't give up on something that works.

I truly believe if everyone skips eating one day a week and IMF the rest. Our health system will be so disrupted with healthy ppl. Big pharma and private hospitals would go out of business. Then maintain healthcare by the gov could easily take place in the US.
